Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is approaching quickly, which means Black Friday, Small
Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday are close as well. While we are looking forward to being with
family and friends over the holiday season, we also want to be safe and be present for the festivities.
Here are some easy, but overlooked precautions to make sure you and your loved ones are safe
during the shopping weekend.
Holiday Shopping Safety Precautions

1. Have A Plan – Plan with your children prior to going shopping. If you have an older child, you
can determine a designated location to meet if separated. If you have younger children, be sure they
know to never leave a store without you. Inform them to locate a trusted adult to help and hand them
an ID Card.
2. Make Sure Your Child Knows Your FULL Name and Phone Numbers - With everything going
digital we constantly rely on our phones. But what if our phones are either dead, lost, or stolen? A
older child might know what their parents’ names and phone numbers are, but make sure your
younger children know your FULL names and phone numbers to be able to give to a trusted adult if
they are separated from you. An alternative is making sure that your child has an ID card that they
can give to trusted adult if they are young or have communication barriers.
3. Carry a Recent Photo of Children – As stated before, we rely so much on our phones but
sometimes they die, are lost, or stolen. Keeping a physical photo in case your child is separated from
you, will aid the search.
Cyber Monday Shopping

According to treasury.gov, in 2023, $12.5 billion was contributed to cyber-crime. Here a few key
precautions to keep you safe and on top of your accounts this holiday season.
1.Avoid Suspicious Links – Deals that are too good to be true, are probably not true. Do not click
a link unless it is from a trust retailer.
2. Do not Use Public Wi-Fi – If you must use public Wi-Fi, utilize a VPN or your phones hotspot
for temporary usage.
3.Pay Wisely – Use credit cards or reliable online payment services.
4. Check Your Accounts – During the holiday season, be sure to check your accounts regularly. If
you notice a suspicious charge, contact card issuer, change your passwords and pins, and place a
fraud alert.
